Career
Forward-looking & tradition-conscious
The future is closely linked to the oceans: More and more people will live and work on the oceans, whether to transport goods, generate energy or mine raw materials. At the same time, the ocean habitat is increasingly endangered: global warming, pollution of the seas and overfishing are examples of this. This makes it all the more important to develop concepts that combine these two challenges so that a considerate and safe coexistence of humans and nature is possible. We are dealing with this exciting and complex task at the Institute for Safety Engineering / Ship Safety and the Academy for Ship Safety.
Our interdisciplinary team with expertise in nautical science, marine engineering and natural sciences works intensively with a wide range of stakeholders from the maritime industry within research projects to develop innovative solutions for shipping and related industries.
The range of topics extends from technology development to psychological aspects and legal issues. At present, the focus is particularly on environmentally friendly types of propulsion and alternative fuels for shipping.
Based on the latest research findings, we offer practice-oriented further training courses for seafarers and maritime personnel. Our lecturers are active both in in-house training courses at the customers' premises and at our site. We use modern teaching and learning methods, which we also develop ourselves.
Against this background, we are looking for committed and innovative team members to support us with their expertise, industry knowledge and new ideas.
